Wilfried Gnonto had something of a breakout season last campaign, after his move to Leeds United from FC Zürich. The 19 year old started 14 Premier League games for the Midlands’ club and managed a healthy six goals and assists combined.
He is currently at the U21 European Championship with Italy, and Gianluca di Marzio has reported that he has caught the attention of Everton. Everton escaped relegation on the last day of the season, and a big reason why they were in such a precarious position was due to their lack of goals or any forward threat.
In his short time in England, Wilfried Gnonto has proven himself to be a real handful for defenders and that is exactly what Everton are missing. His development in England could also benefit Italy, as they have been missing a winger with a profile similar to Gnonto’s. With Federico Chiesa struggling to regain form after his injury layout, if Gnonto continues to impress, he could see himself fast-tracked into the senior Italy team.
