Lionel Messi (36) has given his friend and former teammate Neymar (31) a trophy that he received from Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi before the former’s final game for Les Parisiens, as reported by Le Parisien.
Messi’s PSG career came to an end following a 3-2 defeat against Clermont Foot, at the Parc des Princes, on the final day of the 2022/23 season. The result, whilst disappointing for the Parisian club, was inconsequential as they had already secured back-to-back Ligue 1 titles.
Before the game, the club’s president Al-Khelaifi went into the dressing room and offered Messi a golden number 30 trophy, the number that La Pulga wore during his two-year stay at the club. Sergio Ramos, who also left the club this summer, received a similar trophy.
However, this trophy ended up in Neymar’s hands. The Brazilian international has auctioned the piece for his foundation in Brazil, which helps disadvantaged children. Messi’s golden trophy was bought by streamer Casimiro for €158,000. The streamer will also get two free nights in a luxury residence, as well as a dinner with actress Deborah Secco.
Whilst Messi has left the club and is set to join MLS side Inter Miami, Neymar’s PSG future is also unclear. Luis Enrique’s arrival at the Parc des Princes could, however, be good news for the Brazilian, who worked with the Spaniard at Barcelona.
