Kenzo, an 8-year-old Olympique of Marsella fan suffering from brain cancer, and his family were attacked by AC Ajaccio fans on Saturday evening.
The boy’s father was punched in the face several times for daring to carry his son on his shoulders, wearing an OM jersey, so that he could see the Marseille players on the pitch before kick-off in Ajaccio on Saturday evening.
Back in Corsica, after a previous stay with other sick children, for this surprise trip offered by his parents, Kenzo saw several individuals violently break into the dressing room he was occupying with his family. For a simple OM jersey, which he was forced to remove and which was then burnt, Kenzo was pushed around and his father beaten up.
“I was very scared when I saw them enter the room, I wasn’t expecting it at all, I was surprised,” Kenzo’s father told BFMTV on Sunday. “I was very afraid for their safety. I quickly realized that if I didn’t give them the shirt, my children and I would risk much more serious consequences”.
“Some of them insulted us, but they wouldn’t get on,” he adds. “A group of fifteen people still barged into the dressing room. It’s crazy.”

Investigation into “group violence
The events, which were partially acknowledged by one of the presidents of the AC Ajaccio supporters’ group, led the public prosecutor’s office to open a judicial investigation into a case of group violence.
After the assailants had been expelled by stadium security, the Corsican club’s management allowed Kenzo and his parents access to the OM dressing room after the match. There, the young fan was able to spend some time with his idols, including midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.
“These individuals in no way represent the values of our club and our island,” AC Ajaccio said in a statement. Even the most extreme stupidity cannot excuse such behavior! The club condemns these unspeakable acts in the strongest possible terms!”
