Andrea Pirlo to be appointed at Sampdoria coach

Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Andrea Pirlo is set to be appointed as the new coach of Serie B side Sampdoria. The Blucerchiati were demoted to the second division of Italian football at the end of last season, while also under the threat of bankruptcy.

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has since taken over the club and looks set to make his first appointment of the 2023-24 campaign.

According to Sky, Pirlo is set take over Samp  and will sign a two-year deal with an option for a third season.

Fabio Grosso was strongly linked with the role in recent weeks but failed to reach an agreement with Radrizzani.

The Leeds owner reportedly met with Pirlo three times and the former Milan midfielder’s enthusiasm for the role was enough to secure him the role.
