late at night on April 17th
at Nari Bar in the bustling Japan Town
a customer let’s name him Dung
expected a casual night out
he opted for a $40 per hour service
that included beer and karaoke
during his stay which lasted about two hours
he was served by a hostess who sang and drank with him
two more female employees joined later
upon returning from the restroom
Dung noticed additional empty beer cans on the floor
which he suspected were placed there
to inflate his Bill to over 10 million VND
or roughly $400
Dung’s protest about the unfair charges
were met with hostility
the bar employees not only surrounded him
refusing him leave but escalated to physical violence
the situation worsened
when employees physically assaulted him
disrobed him
and eventually threw him out onto the street naked
employees took Dung’s credit card
and used it to pay for the inflated bill
they then returned his clothes
forced him to sign pay papers before letting him go
they also forced him to sign papers
acknowledging the bill before returning his clothes
and credit card, authority stepped in
after Dung reported the incident
the bar owner and 4 employees were arrested
facing charges of extortion
this incident shines a light on the predatory practices
lurking in some corners of nightlife
an investigation is ongoing
for those of you looking for more details
about this incident
I’ve included a link to a local news page
in the description below feel free to check it out
to get a deeper understanding of what happened
and the ongoing investigations
this incident highlights a recurring problem
in the nightlife areas of Saigon
where such disputes
over inflated bills can lead to violence
it serves as a cautionary tale for tourists and expats
frequenting these areas
if you’ve heard about such practices
or if you personally
encountered any troubling situations
don’t be shy

your stories can help inform and protect others
in our community
as thrilling as night life can be
it’s crucial to stay vigilant
here are some tips to keep yourself safe
stick to well known venues with good reviews
when you’re choosing where to spend your evening out
in that kind of establishments
it’s crucial to opt for places that are well regarded
I visited numerous bars here and there
that stand out due to their positive reviews
and high customer satisfaction
remember a place that cares about its reputation
tends to ensure a safer
more enjoyable experience for its patrons
for recommendations on top rated girly bars in Saigon

always paying cash to avoid credit card scams
carrying cash might seem a bit old fashioned
but it’s a smart move in nightlife districts
I learned this the hard way in Manila
where a bar tried to charge an extra $200
on my friend’s credit card
since then I’ve always paid in cash
to control exactly what I spend
and avoid unauthorized charges
plus it’s easier to dispute a bill
when you haven’t already handed over your card
keep a close eye on your tab
it’s easy to get lost in the fun of the night
but keeping an eye on your tab
can prevent unpleasant surprises
during a night out in Kuala Lumpur
I kept a mental note of each drink I ordered
when the bill came there were several extra charges
because I had been vigilant
I could confidently dispute them
and the venue corrected the bill
always ask for an itemized bill
and go through each charge
if something doesn’t seem right
limit your alcohol intake to maintain awareness
enjoying a drink is part of the night life experience
but moderation is key
in so many places
I witnessed a tourist who had too much to drink
become an easy target for pickpockets
staying sober enough to be aware of your surroundings
can make all the difference
it’s not just about avoiding theft
it’s also about making safe decisions
throughout the night
there’s strength in numbers
especially in unfamiliar or crowded environments
I prefer go out with a group of friends
which proved beneficial
during a night out in Ho Chi Minh City
one of us had a minor accident
and having friends nearby made it easier to get
help and ensure everyone got home safely
whether it’s for handling emergencies
or deterring potential troublemakers
having company is always a good idea
remember if anything feels off
or you start to feel uncomfortable
trust your instincts and leave
there are plenty of other places to explore
while I’m known to take risks
I always prioritize my safety above all else
I strongly advise you to do the same
your well being is Paramount
so never hesitate to put it first
in my own experiences
having frequented various nightlife spots
across Southeast Asia
these practices are not isolated incidents
I’ve seen similar tactics used elsewhere
making it all the more important
to share these stories with you
so that’s it if you’re enjoying this content
and wanna stay updated with all sides of nightlife
here in Southeast Asia hit that subscribe button
and if you’ve ever had a similar experience
please share it in the comments below
your stories can help others avoid these pitfalls
as we wrap up today’s video
remember night life is meant to be enjoyed
but always with caution
thanks for tagging along with Lazy Nomad
until our paths cross again
in the neon lit streets of Southeast Asia
keep exploring but always keep it lazy
goodnight and see you on the next adventure
