Lens in talks with Basel over Andy Diouf transfer, Marseille also interested

L’Équipe have revealed that RC Lens are in talks with FC Basel over the transfer of France U21 midfielder Andy Diouf (20).

Diouf spent the season on loan at the Swiss club from Stade Rennais. That move was made permanent at the end of the current campaign for €5m, but there is a chance that he may have played his last game for the club.

Lens are looking for reinforcements having qualified for the group stages of next season’s Champions League. Le Sang et Or are reportedly in negotiations with Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace over the signing of Habib Diarra (19), but have also begun talks with Basel over a transfer for Diouf, who notably helped the Swiss club reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League last season.

However, Lens aren’t alone in showing an interest in the French midfielder, and could face competition from Ligue 1 rivals Olympique de Marseille, who Le Sang et Or, have also qualified for next season’s Champions League, but must first pass through the qualification rounds.
