Kylian Mbappe gave a press conference ahead of France‘s game against Gibraltar in Faro, Portugal on Friday. The PSG striker spoke once again about his future and maintained that he intends to honor the one remaining year on his contract with the Parisian club.
However, with reports coming out of the club that PSG will not allow him to leave for free, the forward has made clear he has no desire to leave.
“I’ve already answered that. My objective is to stay, that’s my only option for now. I’m waiting for questions from now on about the match of my national team,” he explained.
Much has been made of the letter he sent to PSG, informing the club hierarchy that he would not be extended his stay with the club. but Mbappe feels as though this has been blown out of proportion.
“I don’t think that a letter kills someone, I don’t care about that. I didn’t think it would offend anyone: I just sent a letter,” he detailed.
“It has not been sent now, there are things that surprise me and I insist, I expect questions about the match.
“People can talk, criticize…. I know why I do what I do and why I say what I say. People don’t know all the ins and outs”.
Mbappe wants to play at the Olympics
One issues that has been reported is the fact that PSG may not allow Mbappe to represent France at the 2024 Olympics.
“I’ve always said that it’s a dream but also that I’ll do whatever the club says because it’s not a FIFA competition”.
With regards to Gibraltar, in a match that shouldn’t give Les Bleus any real problems, Mbappe appeared in a focused mood.
“My first concern is to play tomorrow and help my team tomorrow. That’s what matters to me now.”
