Part of the content of the conversations held by Robinho and his friends and used by the Italian prosecutor’s office in the investigation into the rape of a woman in 2013 have been published in Brazil.
In the audio recordings, from 2014, the friends acknowledge that they had group sex with the woman and talk about strategies to defend themselves against possible accusations.
“Even if they call me for something, there is no problem. I go there and say: first, the story was a year ago. Second, I didn’t even touch that girl,” says Robinho in the clip released by ‘UOL’.
“I’m afraid… if it doesn’t get in the press, it’s great. If it doesn’t get in the press it’s great. Imagine: ‘Robinho‘s friends rape a girl in Italy’. What a phase!”
Despite not acknowledging the facts, the audios make it clear that there was a group relationship and that the woman was unconscious due to alcohol intake.
“I slept with her, she sucked me off and I left. The others stayed there. The camera wasn’t going to film me sleeping with the girl, or the girl sucking me because if not it was going to screw everyone because she sucked me, she sucked you…” explains Robinho to one of the friends, who says: “Robinho sleeping with her, her sucking Alex, it’s true man. How does the crazy girl remember that?”
Robinho, aware that fleeing to Brazil would save those involved due to the non-extradition of Brazilian citizens to other countries, comments, in one part of the recording, how he would defend himself.
“Whoever touched her is in Brazil. Go after those people who are in Brazil. There, in Brazil. F*** those who slept with the girl. I didn’t sleep with her, you didn’t sleep with her. F***,” said Robinho.
“That I slept with her, zero chance. That’s going to end in nothing.”
Then a friend replies: “Stop it because I saw that you put your penis in his mouth.”
“That’s nothing,” Robinho replies.
One of the most impactful parts of the footage is when Robinho encourages the friends to attack the victim.
“Is she an idiot? We’re going to hit her! You’re going to punch her and say: ‘F***, what did I do to you? Did I do something to you?” said Robinho.
The former footballer was sentenced in the first instance, in 2017, to nine years in prison for a rape offence in a Milan nightclub in 2013, when he played for Milan.
According to Italian justice, Robinho and four friends abused a young Albanian woman who was celebrating her birthday that day.
Robinho is currently at liberty in Brazil due to the impossibility of being extradited.
