Strasbourg president Marc Keller on receiving Chelsea loanees: “They have to want to come to us.”

In an interview with L’ÉquipeRacing Club de Strasbourg Alsace President Marc Keller has spoken about the club’s takeover by BlueCo, the owners of Chelsea Football Club, specifically addressing the possibility of Chelsea players arriving on loan.

The officialisation of Strasbourg’s integration into the BlueCo family was confirmed on Thursday. Keller reveals that the investment firm have purchased the entirety of the club, and that he will be remaining as president of the Alsaciens.

Given the newly-established link between Chelsea and Strasbourg, there are already rumours of the potential transfer dealings between the two sides. As reported by L’Équipe and Foot Mercato on Friday, David Datro Fofana (20) is a player that could trade the Premier League for Ligue 1 next season, although OGC Nice and Lille OSC have also registered an interest in the Ivory Coast international. Fofana himself is thought to favour a move to Les Aiglons.

However, speaking to L’Équipe, Keller has denied that Strasbourg will be welcoming a raft of Chelsea loanees. “It isn’t the project,” he began.

We have had meetings with the sports department to define the objectives. We will have more means to be more ambitious. Loïc Désiré (Strasbourg’s Chief Scout) will have the handle on discussions about players that could interest us if there are any. They also have to want to come to us,” he added.
